Game Overview
Mega Man 6 feels like the NES era’s last hurrah—Capcom had already moved on to the SNES, so Nintendo stepped in to publish this one in North America. The story’s a fun twist: instead of Dr. Wily causing trouble again, it’s a shady billionaire named Mr. X hosting a robot tournament, and of course, things go sideways. You’re still jumping and shooting through tough-as-nails stages, but the new Rush adaptors (jetpack legs, anyone?) give Mega Man some fresh movement options.
It’s got that classic, punishing Mega Man difficulty, but the robot masters here—like Wind Man and Knight Man—have some of the most creative designs in the series. The music’s still killer, too. If you’ve played the others, you’ll recognize the formula, but there’s enough new stuff to make it worth your time. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand.
