Game Overview

My Hero on the Sega Master System is one of those old-school beat-em-ups that doesn’t mess around—you’re either good at jump-kicks and timing punches, or you’re going to see the game over screen a lot. You play as Steven (or just "the hero" in the SMS version), trying to save your girlfriend from a gang led by some guy named Mohikan. The enemies? A weird mix of thugs, pigs, bulldogs, and… frogs? Yeah, it’s bizarre, but somehow it works.

The arcade version had way more variety—different levels with ninjas and space fortresses—but the Master System port keeps things simple, sticking to the street setting for all three stages. No tied-up allies to rescue here either, which is a shame because having backup in the arcade version was a lifesaver. Still, if you like punishing, straightforward brawlers with that classic Sega feel, this one’s worth a few rounds (and probably a few rage quits).
