Game Overview

I picked up Mystery at the Museums as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though I'm not sure who originally developed or published it. It's one of those early '90s point-and-click adventures that feels very much of its time, with chunky VGA graphics and a mouse-driven interface that was still novel for many home computer users back then.

You play as a detective tasked with solving a theft across several museum exhibits. The gameplay involves moving screen by screen, examining objects closely, and picking up items that might help you later. You talk to quirky characters for hints, combine inventory objects in logical (or sometimes illogical) ways, and face a few simple puzzles that block your progress. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, and some puzzles can be obscure without a guide. It feels like untangling a knot with patience, where every small discovery adds a thread of clarity.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
