Naruto Shippuden: Narutimate Accel 3 came out for the PlayStation Portable in 2009, developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Bandai Namco Games. It was one of the better fighting games on the PSP at the time, especially if you were into the Naruto series. The handheld was full of anime adaptations, but this one stood out for its fluid animations and faithfulness to the source material.

You control characters from the Naruto universe in fast-paced 2D arena battles. The main goal is to deplete your opponent's health using a mix of basic attacks, special jutsu, and ultimate techniques. Key mechanics include chakra management for pulling off bigger moves, substitution jutsu to evade attacks at the last second, and team assists for strategic combos. Matches move quickly, and while button mashing can get you somewhere, timing and strategy matter more against skilled opponents. It feels satisfying to land a well-timed ultimate and watch the screen fill with familiar, over-the-top animations.
