Play Ninja Gaiden on Msdos Online
Chunky pixel Ryu Hayabusa kicks through waves of thugs in this arcade-style MS-DOS brawler—clunky controls at first, but landing a perfect jump kick on a whole crowd feels great.
I remember picking up Ninja Gaiden on MS-DOS back in the day, part of that wave of early 90s PC ports trying to bring arcade action home. It was released in 1990 by Tecmo, and on the DOS platform, it had a certain rough charm, fitting right in with the era's mix of ambition and technical limitation.
You control Ryu Hayabusa, a ninja moving screen by screen through urban and industrial settings, using his sword and shurikens to cut down endless enemies. The main goal is straightforward: fight through each stage, defeat the boss, and move on. The game is known for its fast, sometimes unforgiving pace, with enemies swarming from all directions and platforming that demands precision. It feels tense and immediate, a test of reflexes where every jump and slash counts.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
