Game Overview

I first played Omar Sharif on Bridge back in the early 90s, a 1992 release from the MS-DOS Classic Games collection. It was one of those titles you'd find bundled on a shareware disk, a straightforward attempt to bring a complex card game to the home computer. There was no flashy publisher behind it, just a simple program built around the actor's name and his known passion for bridge. It fit right in with the era's practical, no-frills approach to gaming.

You control your own hand, making bids and playing cards against a trio of computer opponents. The main objective is to win tricks and fulfill your contract, just like in real bridge. Signature mechanics include a detailed bidding system where you communicate with your AI partner using standard conventions, and a trick-taking phase where you must carefully manage your high cards and suit lengths. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, forcing you to think several moves ahead, and the difficulty is steep if you're new to the game. It feels like a patient, sometimes frustrating, lesson in a classic pastime.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
