Game Overview

Pac Kong is basically Donkey Kong with an octopus instead of a gorilla—which honestly makes it way weirder in the best way. You play as this little adventurer (sometimes called Kong, because why not) trying to climb ladders and jump gaps while dodging tiny octopi and weird poison gas clouds. The controls are dead simple: move left and right, climb ladders, and hit the fire button to jump. That’s it.

The levels are these stacked platforms with treasure chests at the top, and once you grab one, you’re onto the next round. Some versions swap out the sprites—maybe the octopus looks angrier, or your guy has a different hat—but the gameplay stays the same. Two players can take turns, too, if you want to watch your friend get wrecked by poison gas. It’s janky, charming, and exactly what you’d expect from an Atari 2600 game.
