Game Overview

Electronic Arts released PGA Tour Golf in 1989 as part of their MS-DOS Classic Games series, a time when sports simulations were just beginning to find their footing on home computers. It arrived without much fanfare, a straightforward golf game that asked for your patience more than your reflexes, fitting neatly onto a handful of floppy disks. You didn't need a powerful machine to run it, just a willingness to parse its simple, text-based menus and blocky, colorful graphics that defined the era.

You control a golfer through a full 18 holes, with the objective of finishing each course under par. The core of the game is its three-click swing mechanic: you press a key to start the power meter, again to set the power, and a final time to determine the shot's accuracy. Club selection, wind direction, and lie percentage all drastically affect your shot, demanding careful calculation before every swing. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, and the unforgiving physics make even short putts a genuine challenge. It feels like a thoughtful puzzle dressed in golf attire, where a single mistake can unravel your entire round.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
