Game Overview

Pickle Wars came out in 1994 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Apogee Software. It was one of those shareware titles you'd find on a floppy disk, a product of its time when simple, quirky concepts could fill an afternoon. The game doesn't take itself seriously, and that was part of the charm back when not every game needed a deep story or realistic graphics.

You control a chef armed with a SaladShooter, tasked with clearing each screen of aggressive pickle aliens. The main goal is straightforward: eliminate all enemies to advance to the next stage. Movement is screen by screen, with platforms to navigate and projectiles to avoid, including flying gherkins that home in on your position. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding quick reflexes and careful aim. It feels chaotic and silly in the best way, a straightforward arcade-style challenge that never overstays its welcome.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
