Game Overview

Planet's Edge: The Point of no Return came out in 1991 for MS-DOS, developed by New World Computing. It was one of those space exploration games from the era that tried to blend story with strategy, letting you venture into the unknown with limited resources and a lot of uncertainty. The premise was straightforward: Earth disappears, and you're left to pick up the pieces across the stars.

You control a small crew aboard a spaceship, managing fuel, repairing systems, and negotiating or fighting with aliens you encounter. The main goal is to uncover what happened to Earth, which involves traveling from star to star, gathering clues, and assembling artifacts. Key mechanics include real time space travel, turn based tactical combat on planetary surfaces, and managing your crew's health and morale. The pacing is slow, deliberate; mistakes with resources or combat can be punishing. It feels like a lonely, tense journey where every new system could bring discovery or disaster.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
