Game Overview

Realms of Arkania III: Shadows over Riva came out in 1997 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, developed by Sir-tech Software, Inc. It was a late entry in the era of complex, party-based RPGs that relied on strategic thinking and careful resource management rather than fast action or flashy graphics.

You control a party of up to six adventurers, navigating the city of Riva and its surroundings screen by screen. Your main goal is to uncover a conspiracy threatening the city, which involves interrogating locals, exploring dungeons, and engaging in tactical turn-based combat. Key mechanics include managing your party's provisions and health, solving environmental puzzles, and using a detailed day-night cycle that affects NPC availability and enemy encounters. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be punishing if you rush into situations unprepared. Playing it feels like slowly unraveling a dense, atmospheric mystery where every decision carries weight.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
