Play Rhino Rumble Online

Your rhino spews fire after eating too many peppers, so naturally you belly-flop through jungles, bouncing off nightmare creatures and barely making jumps before gravity reminds you who's boss. The janky charm hits just right when you finally nail that waterfall landing after twenty tries.

Game Overview

Rhino Rumble came out in 2000 for the Game Boy Color, developed by Planet Interactive. It was one of those late-era platformers that tried to stand out with a weird concept, back when handheld libraries were full of experiments. You don't see many games where you play as a fire-breathing rhino, even now.

You control a rhino that gains fire breath by eating peppers scattered through each stage. Your main goal is to reach the end of each level, smashing or burning enemies and obstacles in your path. The game uses screen-by-screen progression, so you clear one area before moving to the next. It's fairly challenging, with precise jumps and timing required to avoid pitfalls and enemies. Playing it feels like wrestling with a stubborn but oddly endearing character; the controls take getting used to, but there's satisfaction in finally getting through a tough section.
