Rockman, known as Mega Man outside Japan, came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987 from Capcom. It was part of that early wave of NES action games where the focus was on tight controls and a steady challenge rather than a long story. You just picked a stage from a grid and jumped in.

You control the blue robot Mega Man, running and jumping through side-scrolling stages filled with enemies and environmental hazards. The main goal is to defeat six Robot Masters, each in their own unique stage, and acquire their special weapon. A signature mechanic is the ability to choose any stage order from the start, and another is using a defeated boss's weapon against another who is weak to it. The pacing is quick, but the difficulty is sharp and demands precise jumps and smart weapon selection. It feels satisfying to finally beat a stage that had been stopping you, using a new weapon you just earned.
