Secret Quest came out in 1989 for the Atari 2600, developed by Atari themselves. It was a late release for the system, a time when many players had moved on to newer consoles, but it offered an ambitious take on action-adventure within the hardware's constraints.

You control an astronaut exploring an alien base, screen by screen, fighting mutants and robots with a limited-energy laser. Your main goal is to find four pieces of a code to destroy the base before your oxygen runs out. You collect keys to open doors, manage your air and weapon energy carefully, and solve simple puzzles to progress. The game is difficult, with resource management that keeps you tense and planning ahead. It feels like a race against suffocation in a hostile, maze-like environment.
