Play Shrek Online

I picked up Shrek for the Game Boy Color back in 2001, published by TDK Mediactive. It was one of those licensed games that came out around the time of the movie, and on the GBC, you got a lot of these side-scrolling adventures. It wasn't trying to be groundbreaking, just a solid little portable take on the character.

You control Shrek through a series of levels, moving screen by screen, fighting guards with your fists or a sword, and occasionally using a burp attack to stun enemies. The main goal is to rescue Princess Fiona, which means navigating through forests, swamps, and Lord Farquaad's castle. You collect coins to buy items, smash barrels for health, and deal with some light platforming. The pacing is straightforward, though some jumps require timing, and the combat can feel repetitive after a while. It feels like a simple, sometimes clunky brawler that captures the movie's humor in a very direct way.
