Game Overview

Sky Soldiers is one of those classic arcade shooters where you’re blasting through waves of enemies while dodging bullets—except this time, you’re hopping through history. You pilot the Stealth, a futuristic fighter sent to fix messed-up timelines after a rogue supercomputer starts throwing war machines into the past. Think of it like a time-traveling bullet hell where you’re fighting biplanes in WWI one minute and dodging missiles over Vietnam the next.

Right off the bat, you pick one of four special weapons—each with its own quirks. Some have wide spreads but limited ammo, others are more precise but chew through bullets fast. I usually go for the homing missiles because, well, I’m lazy and they do the aiming for me. Crates drop from certain enemies, refilling your ammo or upgrading your main gun, so you’re constantly juggling between conserving firepower and going all-out.

The bosses are the real highlight—each one’s a massive war machine tailored to its era, like a towering mech in 1945 Japan or a heavily armored bomber over 1974 Russia. The pixel art gives everything this gritty, retro-futuristic vibe that just works. By the time you reach the final showdown in present-day orbit, you’ll have burned through a lot of continues (or gotten really good at weaving through bullet patterns).
