Play Spider-Man (France) Online

Swing through blocky NYC alleys, web-punching goons between awkward wall climbs—it’s janky but weirdly charming when you nail the rhythm. Venom’s still a pixelated nightmare, just with less trash talk.

Game Overview

Okay, so this is the Game Boy Color version of Spider-Man—not the PS1 one, which is way more famous. It’s a side-scrolling beat-em-up where you swing through New York (or at least a pixelated version of it) punching thugs and dodging traps. The controls take a second to get used to—wall-crawling feels a little sticky at first—but once you get the rhythm down, it’s satisfying to web-sling across gaps and dropkick bad guys.

You’ll run into most of Spidey’s classic villains like Venom and Doc Ock, though they’re way less chatty here than in the console versions. No Stan Lee narration either, obviously, but the sprite work’s decent for a GBC game—that little red and blue suit actually pops on the tiny screen. Just don’t expect deep storytelling; this is pure old-school arcade action with some frustrating platforming bits here and there. Still, not bad for a portable Spidey fix.
