Game Overview

StarMines II - Planet of the Mines is one of those weird, punishing MS-DOS games that somehow makes you love it even when you’re getting blown up for the tenth time. You’re dropped onto this alien planet where every step could trigger a hidden mine, and the enemies? They don’t just wander around—they actually try to outthink you. It’s like Minesweeper if it had a caffeine addiction and a grudge.

The first time I played, I assumed it’d be simple—just avoid the mines, right? Nope. The AI adapts, the traps get sneakier, and before long, you’re sweating over pixel-perfect movements while synth-heavy MIDI music blares in the background. The graphics are pure ‘90s DOS—chunky, colorful, and oddly charming—but the real hook is how tense it gets. One misstep, and boom, back to the start screen.

If you’re into retro games that don’t hold your hand, this one’s a blast (sometimes literally). Just don’t blame me when you lose track of time muttering “one more try” at 2 AM.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
