Game Overview

I first ran into The Geekwad - Games of the Galaxy back in 1993, a time when shareware disks were full of strange experiments. It was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, put together by Brian A. Rice, and it fit right in with the era's love for quirky, low-budget projects that didn't take themselves too seriously. You knew you were in for something unusual just from the title screen.

You control a character, the titular Geekwad, who travels from planet to planet tackling a series of bizarre mini-games. The main objective is simply to survive and succeed in each self-contained challenge, which range from debugging malfunctioning alien appliances to navigating abstract, hazardous environments. The mechanics shift completely from screen to screen; one moment you're carefully aligning circuits, the next you're frantically dodging obstacles in a primitive shoot-'em-up. The pacing is erratic and the difficulty often feels arbitrary, but pushing through the jank is its own peculiar reward. It feels like rummaging through a box of forgotten tech junk and occasionally finding something that still sparks.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
