Game Overview

I first encountered The Seven Spirits of Ra on a compilation of MS-DOS classic games. It was developed by a small team whose name escapes me now, but it fit right in with the kind of exploratory, logic-heavy titles that filled the shareware catalogs of the early 90s. You don't get much hand-holding; the game just drops you into an ancient Egyptian setting and expects you to figure things out.

You control an explorer navigating a series of tombs and temples, screen by screen. The main goal is to locate seven spirits, which involves solving environmental puzzles, pushing blocks, and matching hieroglyphic symbols under a time limit. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, but the constant threat of traps and the cryptic clues keep you alert. It feels like carefully picking a series of very old, very complicated locks.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
