I remember picking up Tom and Jerry (and Tuffy) for the NES back in 1993, a game published by Hi Tech Expressions. It was one of those many licensed titles that tried to capture the spirit of a cartoon on the 8-bit console, a familiar sight in rental stores at the time.

You choose to play as either Tom, Jerry, or Tuffy, and the goal is simply to clear each stage by reaching the exit. The main action involves picking up objects scattered around the environment, like plates, mallets, or bottles, and throwing them at the other characters to stun them. The levels are single-screen affairs, and you often have to find a key to unlock the door while avoiding or incapacitating your opponents. It can get pretty frantic with items flying everywhere, and the difficulty comes from the constant pressure of being chased. It feels like a chaotic, interactive version of the show's slapstick chases.
