Game Overview

I remember playing Tom & Jerry: Yankee Doodle’s CAT-astrophe back in the day, a 1990 MS-DOS release from Hi-Tech Expressions. It was one of those early PC platformers that felt right at home among the pixelated, side-scrolling games of the era, leaning into the familiar cartoon rivalry without trying to reinvent the wheel.

You control Jerry, and your goal is to outsmart Tom across a series of single-screen rooms. The main mechanics involve picking up items like firecrackers or light bulbs and placing them as traps to slow Tom down or knock him out. Each screen is a self-contained puzzle where timing and quick movement matter; the pacing is frantic, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly. Playing it feels like orchestrating a miniature, mischievous ballet where every mistake costs you.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
