Tom & Jerry (and Tuffy) came out for the NES in 1993, developed by System Vision and published by Altron. It was part of that wave of licensed games trying to capture a cartoon's spirit on the console, a pretty common sight in rental stores back then.

You control either Tom or Jerry, and sometimes Tuffy, moving through side-scrolling stages to collect cheese pieces while avoiding or outsmarting the other. The main objective is simply to gather all the cheese in a stage to advance. Signature mechanics include setting traps, like spring-loaded chairs or rolling pins, to temporarily stun your opponent, and the two-player mode lets a friend control the antagonist directly. The pacing is frantic, and the controls have that specific, slightly slippery feel of many lesser-known NES platformers. It feels exactly like trying to orchestrate a cartoon chase where your plans constantly fall apart.
