Game Overview

Zoids: Shirogane no Juukishin Liger Zero came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Tomy and published by Atlus. It was one of those late-era GBC titles that tried to squeeze a little more out of the hardware before the Advance took over. If you were into Zoids or just liked mech games, this was one of the few options you had on the handheld.

You control the Liger Zero from an overhead perspective, moving across grid-based maps to engage enemy Zoids in turn-based combat. Your main goal is to complete missions, which usually involve defeating all opponents or reaching a specific point on the map. You can upgrade your Zoid with new parts between battles, swapping out weapons and armor to adapt to different enemies. The pacing is deliberate, with an emphasis on positioning and resource management rather than speed. It feels tactical and thoughtful, especially when you line up a perfect attack that takes down a rival machine in one clean hit.
