I first played Alien Legacy back in 1994, a Sierra On-Line release for MS-DOS. It came out during a time when space strategy and resource management games were gaining complexity, and this one fit right in without a lot of flash. You take command of a colony ship sent to a distant star system, tasked with ensuring humanity's survival after Earth's destruction.

You control the ship's captain, managing resources like food, oxygen, and energy while exploring planets and orbital sectors screen by screen. Your main goal is to establish a colony, but you also investigate mysterious alien signals and ruins. Key mechanics include assigning crew to different tasks, researching technologies, and making critical narrative choices through text-based events. The pacing is deliberate, even slow; mistakes in planning can lead to shortages or disasters. It feels tense and absorbing, like every choice carries real weight for your crew's fate.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
