Game Overview

Black Dragon is one of those arcade games that feels like it teleported straight out of the '80s—in the best way possible. You start off as this lone warrior (or maybe a rogue? The sprite’s a little pixelated, but he’s got a sword, so I’m rolling with it) dropped into a dark fantasy world full of skeletons, floating eyes, and other classic baddies. The controls are simple—jump, slash, don’t get hit—but the levels get brutal fast. I died like five times on the first boss before realizing you can duck under his fireballs.

The music’s this crunchy synth track that somehow makes getting ambushed by bats feel epic, and the backgrounds have that hand-drawn look where you can tell someone really cared about making each screen feel distinct. If you’ve ever wasted quarters on games like Ghosts 'n Goblins or Rastan, this’ll hit that same sweet spot of "why is this so hard but also why can’t I stop?"

Just don’t expect a walk in the park—this dragon doesn’t go down easy.
