Game Overview

Cannon Fodder came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, developed by Sensible Software. It was a time when strategy games were often turn-based or heavily menu-driven, but this one threw you right into the action with a more immediate, almost arcade-like feel. You weren't managing empires; you were just trying to keep a few guys alive.

You control a small squad of soldiers, moving them across varied terrain with the mouse, directing their fire at enemy troops, bunkers, and installations. Your main goal is to complete each mission, which usually involves eliminating all opposition or destroying specific targets. Key mechanics include managing your limited troop count (each death is permanent), using grenades to clear obstacles and enemy emplacements, and navigating hazardous environments like minefields and rivers. The pacing is relentless; mistakes cost lives quickly, and the difficulty ramps up steadily. It feels tense and unforgiving, but also strangely compelling when you pull off a clean run.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
