Game Overview

Captain Comic II: Fractured Reality came out in 1990 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Michael Denio. It was a side-scrolling platformer from an era when PC gaming was still figuring out its identity, often relying on simple mechanics and colorful, blocky graphics. You played as the same space-suited hero from the first game, but this time the adventure felt a bit more structured, a bit more deliberate in its design.

You control Captain Comic, moving screen by screen through a mix of outdoor and indoor environments. Your main goal is to collect a set of crystals scattered across the world, each guarded by environmental puzzles and enemies. You start with no weapons, so early on you're just jumping over foes and hunting for power-ups like the Blastola Cola, which lets you shoot and break certain blocks. The game requires a lot of backtracking once you find new items; you might get a key in one area that opens a door you passed three screens back. The pacing is slow, almost methodical, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. Playing it feels like a patient, sometimes frustrating scavenger hunt where every small discovery matters.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
