Play Combat Air Patrol Online

You wrestle the F14 onto a carrier deck at midnight, sweating through radio chatter about incoming SCUDs—mess up the approach and you’re swimming with the fish. The game doesn’t care if you’re new.

Game Overview

Combat Air Patrol is one of those old-school flight sims that doesn’t hold your hand—you’re either landing that F14 on the carrier deck perfectly or you’re crashing into the ocean. No in-between. The whole Gulf War setup feels surprisingly tense, especially when you’re scrambling to intercept SCUD missiles at night or trying not to overshoot the runway (which, trust me, happens a lot).

You pick between the F14 for air patrols or the F18 for bombing runs, and the missions actually play out in real-time—takeoff, cruising to the objective, then sweating through the landing. The ground troop commands and mission planning add some strategy, but honestly, half the fun is just trying not to get your pilot killed. Too many ejections and they’ll boot you to the sick bay, which is a weirdly realistic touch.

It’s brutal, but when you finally nail that carrier landing or take out a key target, it feels like an actual victory. Just don’t expect modern conveniences like checkpoints or forgiving controls.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
