Game Overview

Command & Conquer: The Covert Operations came out in 1996 as an expansion for the original MS-DOS game, published by Virgin Interactive Entertainment. It arrived during a time when real-time strategy was still finding its footing, and this set of missions offered a focused, challenging extension for players who had already cut their teeth on the main campaigns.

You control either GDI or Nod forces across 15 new missions, each designed to test your tactical thinking under tight constraints. The objectives vary from search and destroy to covert infiltration, often on smaller maps that limit your resource pool and force careful unit management. Signature mechanics include dealing with new units like the chemical trooper, whose toxic attacks can decimate infantry, and the SSM launcher, which adds long-range artillery options to shake up base assaults. The pacing is tense and deliberate, with a higher difficulty curve that punishes careless moves. It feels like a sharp, unforgiving puzzle where every decision carries weight.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
