Dragon World Pretty Chance is one of those arcade games that grabs you right away with its ridiculous energy. You start off dodging fireballs from a three-headed dragon while collecting these glowing orbs—no tutorial, no hand-holding, just pure chaos. The pixel art is surprisingly detailed for an arcade rom, especially when the screen fills up with neon spell effects and weird little imps trying to trip you.

What I like is how it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Yeah, there’s a "story" about saving some kingdom, but really it’s just an excuse to fight floating eyeball monsters and ride a skateboarding griffin at one point. The controls are simple (two buttons and a joystick), but some of the later levels get brutal if you don’t time your jumps right. Found myself replaying the lava stage three times because I kept mistiming the dragon’s tail swipe.

If you’re into old-school arcade games with a weird fantasy twist, this one’s a blast. Just don’t blame me when you get obsessed with beating the twin-boss rush mode.
