Game Overview

Estpolis Denki - Yomigaeru Densetsu (or Lufia: The Legend Returns if you're playing the fan translation) is one of those classic JRPGs that flew under the radar. You play as Wain, a descendant of the original Lufia hero Maxim, and yeah—once again, the world's about to get wrecked by those four jerks known as the Sinistrals.

What makes this one stand out is the party system—you can shuffle up to nine characters into battle at once, though only three fight at a time. It sounds messy, but the formations actually matter, and swapping mid-fight keeps things from feeling stale. The dungeons have those puzzle-heavy vibes the series is known for, though some of the later ones might make you groan a little.

It's got that classic GBC look—simple sprites but surprisingly moody for the hardware. The music's solid too, especially the battle themes. Just don't expect the same epic feel as the SNES games; this one's more of a slow burn. Still, if you're into old-school turn-based RPGs with a twist, it's worth dusting off.
