Final Fantasy IV Advance is one of those RPGs that just sticks with you. You start off as Cecil, a dark knight with some serious moral dilemmas, and right away the game throws you into this mix of betrayal and redemption. The story actually feels personal—way more than I expected from a GBA title.
The Active Time Battle system keeps fights tense since enemies don’t wait around for you to pick "Attack" for the hundredth time. And yeah, the pixel art’s dated now, but there’s something charming about how expressive the sprites are, especially during those big dramatic moments. The extra dungeons in this version are brutal, by the way—bring potions.
If you’ve never played an old-school Final Fantasy, this is a solid place to start. Just don’t get too attached to everyone in your party.
