Game Overview

Flying Tigers II came out in 1990 for MS-DOS, published by MicroProse. It was part of that wave of early flight sims that tried to balance realism with something you could actually play without a joystick manual permanently open on your desk. The game puts you in the shoes, or rather the flight jacket, of a pilot in the American Volunteer Group, the famous Flying Tigers, during World War II.

You control a P-40 Warhawk fighter plane across a series of missions in the China-Burma-India theater. Your main job is to complete objectives like protecting bombers or taking out ground targets, but you'll spend most of your time in frantic dogfights against Japanese Zeros. The combat is fast and unforgiving; a few hits can shred your plane, and managing your speed and altitude is crucial to getting a good firing solution. The pacing is mission-based and fairly direct, throwing you into the action with little preamble. It feels like a tense, noisy scrap in the sky where every decision happens in a split second.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
