Game Overview

Okay, so Jill of the Jungle - Jill Saves the Prince is this old-school MS-DOS platformer, but here’s the weird part—its engine got repurposed for a Christian-themed game called Onesimus: A Quest for Freedom (later renamed Escape From Rome). They basically recycled most of Jill’s graphics and levels, just swapped out demons for… well, Bible stuff. The whole thing follows the story of Onesimus from Paul’s Epistle to Philemon, which is a wild pivot from jungle adventures.

What’s funny is that references to Onesimus actually show up in the Jill games’ code, even though Jill came first. The credits in Onesimus thank Epic MegaGames, so either they were working on both at the same time, or Onesimus was rushed out right after. Either way, it’s one of those weird gaming history footnotes you’d never guess existed.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
