Joe & Mac came out on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, published by Data East. You control either Joe or Mac, a caveman armed with a club, and your goal is to rescue the kidnapped cavewomen from the rival Neanderthals. You can find power-ups like a boomerang or a fire wheel that change your attack, and the levels are packed with hidden fruit to collect for points. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially during boss fights. It feels like a chaotic, silly cartoon brought to life.
