MicroProse released Knights of the Sky in 1990 as part of their MS-DOS Classic Games lineup. You control a rookie pilot in the Royal Flying Corps, progressing through a dynamic career on the Western Front. The main objective is to survive your tour of duty by completing assigned missions, which include photo reconnaissance, balloon busting, and engaging enemy aircraft. Signature mechanics involve managing your plane's engine mixture and radiator to avoid overheating, along with navigating using a period-accurate map and compass. The pacing is deliberate, with long stretches of flight punctuated by sudden, chaotic dogfights where positioning is everything. It feels like a genuine struggle for control, where every successful engagement is earned through patience and skill.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
