Game Overview

Kung Fu came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, developed by Irem. It was one of those early side-scrolling action games that felt right at home on the system, a straightforward brawler without much fuss. You weren't saving the world or exploring a huge map; you were just a guy in a dojo, and your job was to fight.

You control a character named Thomas, moving from left to right across single-screen stages. Your goal is to rescue your girlfriend, Sylvia, from the villainous Mr. X, which means fighting through five floors of his tower. You have a basic punch, a kick, and a jump to fend off an endless stream of enemies, from knife-throwing ninjas to boomerang specialists. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming from both sides, forcing you to constantly react. It feels like a frantic, non-stop test of your timing and reflexes.
