Game Overview

Lemmings on NES is one of those games that looks simple until you actually play it. You've got these little guys just mindlessly marching forward—straight off cliffs, into walls, you name it. Your job? Keep enough of them alive to reach the exit. Sounds easy, right? Nope.

You don't control them directly. Instead, you hover a cursor over the chaos, picking which lemming gets which ability at just the right moment. Some can dig, some float down with umbrellas (weirdly adorable), others build bridges. The first few levels ease you in, but pretty soon you're frantically trying to stop a dozen lemmings from walking into lava while the timer ticks down. The level designs get seriously clever later on—some feel almost like puzzles where you need to sacrifice a few to save the rest. Brutal, but weirdly satisfying when you finally nail it.
