Game Overview

Prince of Persia 4D was a 1994 MS-DOS release from Broderbund Software, an attempt to push the series into a new dimension during the era of early 3D experimentation. It arrived when many developers were exploring polygonal graphics, though the technology was still in its infancy and often resulted in a stark, angular look. The game was not widely distributed and remains a curious, lesser-known entry in the franchise.

You control the Prince through a series of interconnected, multi-level dungeons viewed from a fixed third-person perspective. The main objective is to navigate these hazardous spaces, fighting off guards and solving environmental puzzles to progress. Signature mechanics include real-time sword combat against approaching foes and careful platforming across chasms and moving obstacles. The pacing is deliberate, with a high difficulty stemming from awkward controls and the unforgiving level design. It feels like wrestling with an ambitious prototype that never quite found its footing.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
