Game Overview

Psi-5 Trading Company came out in 1985 for MS-DOS, published by Accolade. It was one of those early PC games that tried to capture the gritty, hands-on feel of running a spaceship, back when most space sims were either arcade shooters or text-heavy adventures. You don't get flashy graphics or cinematic storylines; it's all about the numbers, the risk, and the quiet hum of your engines.

You play as the captain of a trading vessel, managing crew, fuel, and cargo across a network of unstable space stations. Your main goal is to buy low, sell high, and survive long enough to pay off your ship's mortgage. Key mechanics include navigating sector by sector, hiring and assigning crew to stations like weapons or engineering, and engaging in tactical combat when pirates show up. The pacing is slow and deliberate, with tension building from constant resource scarcity and sudden emergencies. It feels less like an action game and more like a long, precarious balancing act where every profit margin matters.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
