Rampage came out on the Sega Master System in 1988, a port of the Bally Midway arcade game. It was a time when simple, high concept games thrived, and this one fit right in with its straightforward, destructive premise.

You control one of three mutated monsters, like George the giant ape, and your goal is to simply destroy every city in America. You move from building to building, punching out windows and tearing down walls floor by floor, while eating people who pop out to stop your rampage. Military vehicles like tanks and helicopters show up to shoot you, and if your health gets too low, you revert to a human form and the game ends. The pacing is frantic, a constant race against the army's firepower as you reduce skyscrapers to rubble. It feels like pure, uncomplicated chaos from start to finish.
