Game Overview
Ridge Racer 2 is pure arcade chaos in the best way possible. You grab a car, slam the gas, and immediately realize these things handle like they're on ice—in a fun way. The tracks twist and turn just enough to make drifting feel necessary, not just flashy. And yeah, the graphics still hold up surprisingly well for an arcade racer from this era.
What I love is how unapologetically over-the-top it is. No realism, no tire wear simulations—just you, a ridiculous speedometer, and the occasional "whoops, I just flew off that hairpin turn." The soundtrack’s got that late '90s arcade energy too, all synths and bass that somehow makes you drive faster.
If you’ve got a MAME setup, this one’s worth the 10 minutes of fiddling to get it running right.
