Play Roi Lion, Les - Les Adventures de Simba (France) Online

You guide Simba from cub to king in this scaled-down Game Boy port—the stampede still makes you sweat, and those vine jumps haven’t gotten any easier. Charming despite the jank, especially when you finally take down pixel Scar.

Game Overview

If you grew up with The Lion King, this Game Boy Color version is a weirdly charming little time capsule. You play as Simba through his whole arc—cub to exile to king—and yeah, it’s a stripped-down version of the SNES game, but the sprite work still captures that Disney magic. The stampede level is just as stressful as you remember, and the music somehow squeezes those iconic melodies into tinny chiptune form without losing their charm.

Fair warning: it’s harder than it looks. Platforming can be janky (those vine swings don’t always cooperate), and hyenas seem to spawn out of nowhere. But there’s something satisfying about beating Scar’s smug face in pixel form. Nostalgia does most of the heavy lifting here, but for a handheld Disney game from the ‘90s, it holds up better than it should. Just don’t throw your Game Boy across the room when you fall into the same pit for the tenth time.
