Secret Command came out for the Sega Master System in 1986, developed and published by Sega. It was part of that early wave of action games on the system, offering a straightforward run-and-gun experience without much fuss.
You control a soldier moving through side-scrolling and overhead stages, shooting enemy soldiers and avoiding hazards. The main goal is to rescue hostages while destroying enemy installations. Key mechanics include limited ammo for your machine gun, requiring careful shots, and the constant threat of accidentally shooting hostages, which costs you points. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding quick reflexes and smart resource management. It feels tense and chaotic, especially when you're low on bullets and surrounded.
