Shinobi Legions came out for the Sega Saturn in 1995, published by Sega. It was part of that mid-90s push where 2D games were trying to adapt to the new 3D era, often with mixed results. The game uses digitized actors for its cutscenes, which gives it a very specific, slightly awkward charm that feels very much of its time.

You control a ninja named Sho, moving through side-scrolling stages filled with enemy ninjas, robots, and supernatural creatures. Your main goal is to defeat each stage's boss and progress through the story. Signature mechanics include using a sword for close combat, throwing shurikens at a distance, and performing special ninja magic attacks that drain your magic meter. The pacing is fast and the difficulty can be punishing, demanding quick reflexes and good timing. It feels like a straightforward, action-heavy brawler that doesn't overcomplicate things.
