I picked up Simpsons Le Jeu, Les for the Nintendo DS back in 2007, a time when licensed games were everywhere and Electronic Arts was pumping out titles based on popular shows. It was one of those games you grabbed because you liked the source material, not because you expected anything groundbreaking. The DS library was full of experiments, and this one fit right in with its mix of action and humor.

You switch between Homer, Bart, and Lisa, each with their own abilities and goals. Homer mostly smashes things and fights enemies in beat 'em up sections, Bart skateboards through timed platforming challenges, and Lisa uses her saxophone to solve simple environmental puzzles. The main objective involves progressing through episodes inspired by the show, unlocking areas of Springfield as you go. You explore screen by screen, talk to characters for quests, and collect items to advance the story. The pacing is uneven, with some sections dragging due to repetitive tasks, but the difficulty stays fairly low overall. It feels like a lighthearted, sometimes messy tour through Springfield that captures the spirit of the TV series without demanding too much from the player.
