Space Invaders Extreme 2 takes the classic arcade shooter and cranks it up—way up. The aliens come faster, the patterns get wilder, and the neon visuals pop on the DS screen. At first it feels familiar, but then you notice the little tweaks—like how chaining kills triggers bonus modes or how the music shifts with your combo streaks.

I thought I could just coast on nostalgia, but nope—this one actually makes you sweat. The touch screen controls work surprisingly well if you want them, though I stuck with the D-pad for that old-school feel. Some of the later stages get absolutely brutal, but in that good "one more try" way.

If you ever wasted quarters on the original back in the day, this is like someone remixed it with a double shot of adrenaline.
