Play Space Quest 6: Roger Wilco in the Spinal Frontier Online

You get demoted to space janitor (again), crawl inside a guy’s bloodstream, and deal with a paranoid lion boss—just another day for Roger Wilco. The puzzles still make zero sense, but the weirdness is half the charm.

Game Overview

Space Quest 6 is the weird, messy, and somehow still charming finale to Roger Wilco’s adventures. You start off thinking you’re a hero—only to get demoted to janitor because, of course, StarCon has zero gratitude. The whole thing feels like a fever dream: you’re stuck on a space station that’s basically Deep Space Nine if it were run by a lion who’s terrified of everything, and at one point, you get shrunk down and crawl inside someone’s body. Classic Space Quest.

The graphics are brighter and more cartoonish than the older games, and the interface ditches Sierra’s usual menu bar for something closer to LucasArts’ point-and-click style. It’s smoother, but the puzzles? Yeah, some of them are rough. There’s a cut comic book that was supposed to explain a key puzzle, but instead, you’re left flipping through the manual like it’s 1995 all over again. And don’t even get me started on the food replicator easter egg—good luck stumbling onto that without a hint.

It’s not the cleanest send-off for Roger, but there’s something endearing about its janky ambition. You can tell the devs were scrambling, but hey, at least Gary Owens is still narrating like the smoothest voice in the galaxy.
