Game Overview

Man, Speed Racer in The Challenge of Racer X takes me back. It’s this old MS-DOS racer where you’re basically trying to prove you can outdrive Racer X—which, spoiler, is way harder than it sounds. The tracks are these tight, twisty circuits where one wrong turn sends you spinning into the dirt. I remember spending way too many afternoons slamming into walls before I finally got the hang of drifting around corners.

What’s cool is how the races feel like actual duels—Racer X isn’t just some AI rubberbanding behind you; he’ll straight-up leave you in the dust if you mess up. The car handling’s kinda slippery at first, but once you get the rhythm of tapping the brakes before turns, it clicks. Just don’t expect fancy graphics—this is pure ’90s pixel cars and chunky sound effects. Still weirdly satisfying when you finally beat him, though.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
